I do this all the time!

There are times when I just don't know what to do!

Have you ever felt like that?

Been caught in the spiral of indecision?

Maybe you have so many options that you are overwhelmed and paralyzed.

Afraid that what you choose will be the wrong thing?

Or that if you pick something you will forever be haunted by the things you didn't pick?

Or maybe it's the exact opposite.

You feel like you have no choices and there is no way to get to the place you want to go.

That you will be stuck in the same situation for the rest of your life and you just replay how stuck you are over and over again.

In either case, it is so easy to get caught up in overthinking things or going over the same details again and again without coming to any clear options.

And I hate to be the bearer of bad news friends, but as long as we stay in that stage, in the thinking stage, nothing will ever change and nothing will ever become clear to us.

You see most answers are found in action, not in thinking!

By being so focused on the "right" answer we condemn ourselves to stay in the same place, same scenario, same relationship.

So many times the only way to find out what we should do is to take action, to try something different.

If nothing else it will teach us what we don't want and open up new paths to us that we didn't know were even a possibility.

After all, life is a journey that is revealed to us as we go through it.

So if you find yourself in a situation that has too many options, pick one and begin to move forward and you will find yourself gaining valuable information about what your next step should be.

And sometimes that's the best we get, enough knowledge for the next step.

This happened to me not too long ago when I found myself in a situation of too many options!

So I took the first step of talking to people who had made the choice that I was most seriously considering and through those conversations I gained just enough clarity to realize I would like to move forward in this choice, to investigate more.

That was it.

Nothing more was revealed.

But it was enough because I now knew what my next step was!

To find a community that offered the thing I was considering.

And now that I have found that I am about to make my next step.

That might not sound glamorous and it's not easy.

But action takes us out of just sitting around talking about all our options while life is passing us by!

Or maybe you are on the other side of things.

You feel like you have no options.

I have been there too.

But the truth is there are always options for us, but when we tell ourselves the same story over and over again we start to lose the ability to see that.

When I find myself in this type of scenario it helps to ask myself "If there is one small part of this story I could change what would it be?"

I don't look for massive new options.

Just small little things, until my mind can start to open up to new possibilities.

This happened to me recently when I ran into a little unfortunate health problem that made working out off limits for me.

My mind quickly went into a pity party, saying "Now there is nothing I can do to get my body moving!" and lo and behold I found myself on the couch most evenings.

Until a great friend said to me, "Are you sure there is nothing you can do?"

To which I offered "Nope, nothing, all I can do is walk!"

Which actually made me burst out laughing!!

I could walk!

How had I not thought of that before?

No, I couldn't do my regular work out routine, and no I couldn't take long hikes, but I could walk around our community and still feel like I was moving and contributing to my health!

Which soon lead me to realize that I could go swimming!

Something I would love to get better at and didn't have any negative effects on my body.

So even though I had to let go of my good old tried and true workout routine, when I stopped telling myself an unhelpful story and started doing whatever action I could do, no matter how small, I found new pathways to staying healthy I had not thought of before!

Remember our answers are found in action, not in thinking!

Where could you take action today?
